Sunscreen
Use sunscreen every day. Don’t rely on the sunscreen in your makeup. In a study done at the Wake Forest University, researchers found that foundation slides around your skin and wears off in a matter of hours in normal temperature conditions, rendering the SPF in your makeup almost worthless.
Prevent Exposure
Wear long sleeved shirts, brimmed hats, and pants. This might seem overbearing, but the less sun exposure your skin has to face, the less damaging effects it has to endure.
Avoid the Sun
Stay out of the sun during the strongest heat, usually between 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Mostly this advice is good during the summer. The hotter the day and the sun, the more damaging effects it’ll have on your skin.
Protect Others
Most of the sun damage incurred in your lifetime occurs before your 18th birthday. So, while there’s not much you can do about the damage already done to your own skin, try and keep your children out of the sun and from being exposed to the sun’s wrath any more than necessary to prevent your children from suffering from extreme sun damage.
Don’t worry too much about what’s already been done to your skin—just work on preventing future damage from hurting your skin even further.
